I am going to preface this by saying I am a salty Jets fan who has grown up hating the Pats. They have repeatedly dominated my Jets time and time again (except the 2010 divisional round playoff game in Foxborough) and I will always hate them even when Belichick and Brady are gone and they suck again. Once again this year they come into the playoffs as the top seed in the AFC and have already dominated and eliminated Houston, the softest playoff teams left. Regardless of who they played yesterday, the Pats would’ve had an absolute cakewalk to the AFC championship. They would have either played Miami (sucks), Houston (even worse), or Oakland with their third string QB. New England was lucky to have avoided both Pittsburgh and Kansas City, two teams that are better than them, until the AFC championship. Hell, if Derek Carr wasn’t hurt they would be sitting at home watching the playoffs next weekend because they would not beat a healthy Oakland team or they would have had to play Kansas City yesterday.
You can sit there and say “well yea this is their reward for being a good team and being the number one seed.” The only reason they have the number one seed is because of their cupcake schedule they played. The only playoff teams they played were Miami twice, Houston, Pittsburgh, and Seattle. Miami and Houston suck ass and they barely beat Pittsburgh with Landry Jones as their starting QB. Seattle was the only good team they’ve played all year and they lost to them. New England’s schedule had a combined record of 89-116-3 which is good enough for a win percentage of 0.428. That’s not good, not good at all. Compare that to Pittsburgh whose opponents have a combined record of 110-96-2 (0.529) and Kansas City (104-104 / 0.500) and you’ll see that while they might not have as good of a record as New England, they have definitely played tougher schedules.
New England fans will be cocky as always and talk all kinds of shit about how they are winning the Super Bowl this year. Beat a real team then start counting your winnings. I’ll be sitting here drinking all your tears when your team loses to either Pittsburgh or Kansas City next weekend.
